Thanks to the OLS team
by Kathy Jacobs

Our OLS team has worked hard this last month to get our sites, emails, and services migrated to a new service provider and control system. It has taken many hours of work, especially on the part of two very important volunteers.

Ed Roberts came on board as the interim OLS team lead in order to ensure that the migration could be done cleanly and efficiently. Ed took a large amount of time out of his busy work and family schedule to document what needed to be done, ensure that the team knew who needed to do what, handle the workload and progress, and keep the BOD and BOA informed of progress. Without him, we would not have even been able to start the migration process.

Rich Schnell stepped up to the plate and did much of the work of the transition. He has spent more hours than I care to count uploading content, creating email accounts, solving problems, answering emails, and chatting with users to clear up misconceptions and unclear content. Rich has been the workhorse of the team. Without his efforts, we would not have been able to get the user group sites back up. Without him, we would not have gotten things done in nearly as short of a time.

One other committee member, Bruce Jacobs, has donated time and brain power to create documentation designed to help us all to use the new systems. Bruce has been the main liaison between the OLS team and the support team at the new service provider. In addition, he has been putting together training documentation for those who need to interact with the new system. If you have an APCUG email address, it is likely that you have seen his first piece already.

As Bruce finishes the documentation project, you can expect to see some of it presented to the webmasters for the individual groups by Bruce himself and by Don Singleton.

The other members of the OLS team: Hewie Poplock, Roger Tesch, and Dennis Courtney have loaned their ideas and time as the team has needed them. Without them, we would be quite far behind in our migration efforts.

Thank you OLS team - We appreciate all your efforts and energy!
