Temecula Valley Computer User’s Group
Cheryl Wester
Temecula Valley Computer User Group
Program Chair,
Vice President,
and APCUG Representative
The Temecula Valley Computer User Group (TVCUG) is located in the wine country of beautiful Southern California. They meet the first Saturday of the month at the brand new Temecula Valley library at 10 am. They also meet the third Tuesday evening of the month at the water district office in Murrieta. People with computer concerns bring them and Mike Loring does a question and answer period starting at 6 pm.

On Saturdays the meetings start with a question and answer period that Mike Loring conducts. After an hour of Mike’s valuable information we have a prepared speaker meeting. In the past we have had both guest speakers and members of our own group speak on various topics. We are fortunate that we have people in our group that will speak on various topics. In the past we have had presentations on Windows Mobile devices, Smart Computing, favorite web sites and gadgets, Google, blogging, Internet security, and Web 2.0. In the next few months we have Applian doing a presentation, the history of the Internet, Bit Torrent, Flight Simulator, and Microsoft Publisher presentations. Most of these are being done by our own members. I have found that if I ask I get a volunteer-and if I don’t ask I can always appoint. We have never been disappointed in our presentations.

One of the more popular things our group does is have a Photo Contest. In the past we have had Bill Harkins of our group manage this and he does an excellent job of planning and organizing.

We do have growth problems. We have the same issues that other groups have in finding good volunteers but we keep on working on it. Our membership has increased somewhat due to the excellent publicity people we have working for our group. Jack Leathers does a wonderful job of this.

Please see our web site for more information. Visitors are always welcome to attend our meetings. We look forward to meeting new people so if traveling or vacationing come on out and join us. http://member.apcug.org/tvcug/
