President’s Report

I was asked by the board to step in as President earlier last year. In the past few months, this is what I have learned and what APCUG has accomplished to date.

APCUG has new servers hosting web sites, DNS, and SharePoint with new firewalls in place.

CDB - in the process of being rebuilt - Please login to your group's database record and verify that your information is correct.

Conference – for the last 3 years we lost money, this year looks like we will be in the black! The conference had over 180 people attend; the attendees heard a great number of outstanding presentations by both vendors and user group speakers. It shows you that there is great knowledge in the User group community. One just needs to ask and all sorts of expert’s show and share information. The team who worked on the conference did a great job and a big thank you is in order. We also need to thank our vendors for supporting APCUG.

We have some other news that we would like to share with you:

Results of the Elections for Board of Directors

There will be at least 2 new APCUG Regional conferences this year:

APCUG 2008 Leadership Development Conference
Saturday - Sunday,
May 17 - 18, 2008
Palisades Mall in West Nyack, New York

and the

APCUG Midwest User Group Conference
(Chicago area)
September 19, 20, and 21

Check the APCUG web site for more details.

The OnLine Services Committee (OLS) is now ready to start working on a Linux server hosting solution. This solution will include a Linux box that will run virtual instances of Linux that gives each user group full control of their virtual server. We hope to have this ready by the end of March, 2008.
