They meet the second Tuesday of the month at 7:00 PM. If you are in the area, come on out and visit as they will always make you feel welcome. They pride themselves on friendliness, getting more from your computer, and staying on top of technology.
This computer group has served the Antelope Valley for over twenty years, providing an opportunity for members to learn, help each other, and share experiences to obtain the maximum benefit from their PC.
They help you through software demonstrations, question and answer meetings, and hardware workshops. In addition, they have guest speakers who cover a multitude of timely topics. Their aim is to provide understandable information to typical computer users without getting wrapped up in technical details. Members also frequently receive PC equipment and related peripheral item discounts from selected local businesses.
One of the most popular benefits is the drawing held each general meeting, where members have an opportunity to win free software and computer related items. Also, at the end of the year, a computer equipment swap/sale/give away party is held. This was held in conjunction with the Christmas Party they had this last December. In addition, from time to time, as someone upgrades their equipment, they often donate their replaced items to those just getting started.
When I was looking at the website I found all sorts of great information. They have a section with tips and tricks that has some great ideas. I also like how they keep all the old newsletters online so you can read past articles and see how technology has changed. They have a great article and checklist on how to buy a computer. It does help you determine what you need and how much of the different components you should have on your system.
If you visit them let us know what you think. Thanks.
