First, I would like to say how pleased I am that I was asked to run for one of the APCUG board positions. I think that I can learn a lot from all of you. Sharing our expertise and experiences with other user groups will help to make all of our user groups stronger and more vibrant.
I also want to thank APCUG for recognizing and awarding our computer refurbishing project the Jerry Award 1st prize in both categories. This project is focused on providing computers for people, who are visually impaired. It was started in 1995 by Dr. Robert Langford, who had an accident which left him blind. He joined the North Texas PC Users Group to learn more about computers but to also find volunteers who would be willing to work on computer refurbishing. To read more about this project on our website at http://www.ntpcug.org/, just click on the Jerry Award.
Although I have spent my entire life working with computers, I still find the latest technology exciting and fun, although there are also times when I get frustrated when things don’t work as I think they should or when I get one of those wonderful “blue screens of death”.
